Delete Your Cohortlyy Account

This page explains how to request deletion of your Cohortlyy account and associated data. Account deletion is permanent. You will need to create a new account if you want to use Cohortlyy again.

Important: Deleting your account cannot be undone. Please read the sections below about what is deleted, what may be retained, and how long data is kept before you proceed.

How to Delete Your Account in the App

The fastest way to delete your account is directly in the Cohortlyy mobile app:

  1. Open the Cohortlyy app on your device.
  2. Sign in to the account you want to delete.
  3. Go to the Profile tab (bottom navigation).
  4. Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
  5. Read the confirmation message, then tap Delete my account to confirm.

You can also delete your account from Settings (Profile → Settings → Delete account).

Can't Access the App?

If you cannot sign in or no longer have the app installed, email us to request account deletion:

Include the email address linked to your Cohortlyy account. We may ask you to verify ownership before processing the request.

What Data Is Deleted

When your account is deleted, we remove or deactivate the following:

  • Login access — your Firebase Authentication account is permanently deleted; you can no longer sign in.
  • Profile data — your name, bio, photo, interests, languages, lifestyle, work info, and location fields on your user profile are deactivated and removed from discovery, search, and matchmaking.
  • University profile — your university, program, intake, and related academic fields are deactivated.
  • Profile photos — photos stored for your profile are removed from active use.
  • Group memberships — your membership records are removed from groups you joined.
  • Friend connections & pending requests — friendships and pending friend requests tied to your account are removed.
  • Push notification tokens — device tokens used to send you notifications are disassociated from your account.
  • Saved profiles & blocks — your saved-profile and block lists are removed.

What Data May Be Kept

Some data may be retained for a limited time for legal, security, or operational reasons:

Processing Time

In-app deletions take effect immediately for login and profile visibility. Complete removal from all backups and third-party systems may take up to 90 days. Email requests are processed within 30 days.
